Burst Testing
Burst testing is a critical process for validating the safety, performance, and durability of pressurised components. At Impact Solutions, we offer both low pressure and high pressure burst testing services, designed to meet international standards as well as bespoke client requirements.
With over 50 years of experience in pipeline testing and materials characterisation, our team has the knowledge and equipment to deliver accurate, reliable results, giving clients the confidence that their products and installations will perform safely under pressure.
Our burst testing capabilities support a wide range of applications across the construction, oil & gas, and utilities sectors, and are carried out in accordance with relevant ISO, ASTM, and industry-specific standards.
Whether you require routine compliance testing, product development validation, or failure investigation, Impact Solutions has the expertise to support you at every stage.
Low Pressure Burst Testing (ISO 1402)
We conduct low pressure burst tests (~40 bar), following the principles of ISO 1402. While this method is typically used for hydraulic hose assemblies, we adapt and refine the process to create custom testing solutions for our clients’ unique needs.
High Pressure Burst Testing for Hydrogen Applications
For high pressure applications (up to 2,200 bar), we developed our capabilities by referencing several international hydrogen storage and transport standards.
Our equipment and expertise enable us to test a wide range of components, including:
-
Sections of pipe
-
Small-scale hydrogen storage tanks
-
Hydraulic hoses
-
Pressure vessels
-
Pipe fittings
This ensures safe operation under extreme conditions, making our testing services ideal for industries working with hydrogen and high-pressure systems.
Compliance with UN Regulation No. 134
Our laboratory can perform testing in line with UN Regulation No. 134 (Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Vehicles):
-
Part 1: Full compliance testing available
-
Part 2: Selective testing possible (please contact us to discuss specific requirements)
This makes us a trusted partner for organisations looking to meet regulatory standards for hydrogen storage and safety testing.
