Impact’s approach to laboratory projects varies from acting as a specialised technical and project management consultant supporting a client’s management team to acting as a single point turn-key supplier taking on full responsibility to deliver the whole project. Impact will be happy to advise on the merits of different approaches . In all cases, Impact will ensure all client suppliers meet its own rigorous quality standards.
Stage gate approach for effective project management of capital projects
Impact’s senior consultants are highly experienced project managers that utilize a rigorous stage gate approach to laboratory projects. This methodology has ensured successful delivery with complete transparency, client awareness and client involvement from start to finish.
Planning & Control
Impact coordinates the activities of all contractors to ensure that the project timescales, budgets and deadlines are met. Client meetings on progress and costs are carried out regularly.
Architects
Impact calls on its experience with different types of laboratories and supply chains to work closely with selected architect to design a safe, ergonomically efficient and pleasant environment which meets all the clients’ needs now and into the future.
Construction and service engineer
Impact’s project manager works closely with the constructor’s to ensure the build is to schedule and coordinates other activities to ensure smooth progress to the overall time schedule.
Equipment and suppliers
Impact’s technical team have experience operating a wide range of equipment from analytical, physical testing, and polymer processing, both lab scale and semi-commercial. With our independence and knowledge of the major local and international equipment suppliers Impact will ensure the most appropriate equipment and the best value for money in purchasing and supply agreements.
Commissioning support and ongoing training
Impact’s support team works on site with our client’s laboratory staff to ensure equipment and procedures are fully integrated into its operations to provide world class quality management. Impact has developed a full set of modules to ensure all technical staff is fully trained in core polymer knowledge and operation efficiency.
Our 6-Sigma experts have developed a tailored programme for QC laboratories to introduce key aspects of Statistical Process Control that form the foundation of a robust performance management and continuous improvement programme. Additionally, our Lab-Health IT Application provides full visibility and traceability of overall performance, broken down by product line, by analytical test, by machine, by shift and individual. This application has successfully catalysed significant improvements of manufacturing quality performance.
Impact will also carry out support for R&D labs providing ongoingtraining and technical support including industry events.
